Job summary

We are looking for a motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our viral vector manufacturing facility. This will support one of the most productive academic CAR-T unit of it's kind in the UK

This is a critical role for the smooth operation of the lab, requiring someone who is dependable, efficient and comfortable performing repetitive but essential tasks.

You will be responsible for a range of practical duties including:

- maintaining cleanroom stocks and records

- performing environmental monitoring

- Supporting production staff

- ordering

- working with liquid nitrogen and .

The CCGTT works to a very high standard of cleanliness and the appointee will be responsible for cleaning of work surfaces and equipment and participating in the monitoring of the laboratory cleanliness. The applicant will be required to participate in the Checkit on call alarm rota for the monitoring of critical pieces of equipment. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a rapidly expanding but highly demanding field.

This role would suit an individual with previous lab experience who values accuracy, structure and consistency in their work

Main duties of the job

To provide both the technical and administrative support in a new viral vector manufacturing unit to support production for clinical trial product

Performing stocking taking of GMP cleanroom raw materials, ordering and receipt, correct storage of raw materials and rotation and distribution of stocks.

Day-to-day provision of maintaining stocks and supplies to the CCGTT GMP clean rooms.

Cleaning and performing environmental monitoring (viable & non-viable) within the GMP cleanrooms including assisting with QC team, as required.

Participation in the on call Check-it alarm rota for monitoring critical pieces of equipment.

Working with liquid nitrogen including weekly filling of LN2 cryoshippers and dewars.

Cleaning of GMP equipment including deep cleaning of grade A environments and incubators.

Supervising cleaning operators during cleaning of the GMP cleanrooms and external engineers during equipment servicing requirements.

Specimen labelling and distribution to internal or external laboratories Pre-analytical biological sample preparation

Equipment cleaning, maintenance and preparation for routine run

Routine operation of laboratory equipment according to laboratory protocol and supervision

Making laboratory waste safe for disposal and facilitating removal according to waste protocols
