Job summary

We are looking for a friendly, motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our 16 bedded Infectious Disease, Infection and Immunity and Rheumatology Ward. At Royal Free Hospital we also run the UK's principal high-level isolation unit (HLIU) for the treatment of adult patients with Contact High Consequence Infectious Diseases (HCIDs), as well as an Airborne HCID Treatment Centre. You will receive plenty of opportunities and training to develop your skills further.

Main duties of the job

  • We are looking to appoint a band 5 nurse to be a part of a dynamic and supportive multi-disciplinary team and who meets the requirements of the person specification.
  • As a registered nurse you will be responsible and accountable for delivering excellent care to an allocated group of patients and to undertake all nursing procedures in accordance with Trust policies and ensure that these procedures and policies are understood and adhered to by all staff
  • Clinical duties, include acute medical care, managing deteriorating patients, wound management, pain management, diabetes management, health promotion, patient education, complex discharge planning
  • To ensure accurate nursing records are maintained using appropriate written and electronic documentation
  • To collaborate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and evaluate plans of care, ensuring patients receive high standards of evidence based care at all times.
  • To work with and support students on their placements
  • Be accountable at all times for ensuring that safeguards are in place for patients, in particular those at risk
  • Ensure that all staff act in accordance with Trust policies such as Infection Prevention and Control, Confidentiality, Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities.
  • The successful applicant will be be expected to work both day and night shifts and after a period of training work in the High Level isolation unit.
