Job summary

Full Time Mammography Associate Practitioner Apprenticeship - Band 4; 70% of the salary in the first instance at North London Breast Screening Service (NLBSS)

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is the host trust for the Central & East London Breast Screening, North London Breast Screening Service (NLBSS), and The London Administration Hub.

This is an exciting opportunity to train as an Associate Practitioner working within the North London Breast Screening Service. This is one of the largest units in England where you can make a worthwhile contribution in a warm and friendly environment.

The successful candidate will be supported through the Mammography Associate Programme to obtain the qualifications to undertake screening mammography in accordance with NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) standards.

Due to the sensitive nature of this post, only female applicants can be considered, under Section 7 (2) (b) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.

Main duties of the job

The apprenticeship in mammography is a new route, which will enable the mammography associate to undertake routine 2 view mammograms. You will be trained to undertake mammograms (breast x-rays) of women to aid in the early detection of breast cancer and assisting during special procedures in assessment clinics, in addition to helping with other breast screening processes as necessary.

This very busy service will require you to work in both static and mobile screening sites on a rotational basis. The area covered includes Barnet, Brent, Enfield, Haringey, Harrow, and part of Hertfordshire. This post necessitates travel across this area and therefore the use of a car and a current driving licence is desirable.

We are looking for someone with a mature outlook, excellent people skills and an interest in women's health. This dynamic service would be a great opportunity for an individual looking to enhance their career development in health care.
