Job summary

The Intensive Care unit at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust in Hampstead is looking for a motivated and dynamic Advanced Critical Care Practitioner (ACCP) to join its growing team.

With an expanding body of more than 20 consultants and a specialist liver unit, the RFH ICU team works across two floors. We have a 34 bed high level critical care unit as well a 20 bed enhanced level of care unit dedicated to elective surgery. More than 2,000 patients a year are treated by our clinical and nursing teams.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will provide a specialist ACCP service for patients who require critical care organ support and monitoring.
  • The post holder will participate in the medical rota system, providing 24/7 critical care cover, supported by medically qualified trainees and supervised by a 24/7 critical care consultant rota.
  • The role includes acting as a specialist resource in developing practice on the intensive care unit in order to maintain appropriate clinical standards and quality patient care.
  • The post holder will work with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to develop/review Critical Care policies and guidelines.
  • The post holder will audit the delivery of critical care services, procedures/outcomes and mortality.
