Main duties of the job
The role of the Clinical Practitioner is dynamic, and the post holder will be highly proactive in pioneering, continually developing and embedding the future ACP role beyond the traditional scope of non-medical practice. Ophthalmology has many sub-specialties, but key areas include virtual review of medical retina, glaucoma, and AMD patients.
You will require skills to pick up changes to conditions and take management as in accordance with the significance This may be include contacting a consultant.
You will undertake clinics and virtual clinics (16 patients per virtual review.)
You may also be required to review patient cancellation, DNA and triage prospective clinics and be flexible working Monday-Saturday.

We are seeking to appoint an enhanced Clinical practitioner Optometrist to work in their extended roles for in-person and virtual clinics within ophthalmology clinics. . The successful candidate will work at various sites; Finchley Memorial Hospital, The Royal Free and Whittington Hospitals
The team works closely alongside consultant ophthalmologists, clinical Fellow, junior doctors, orthoptists, ophthalmic technicians, ophthalmology trained nurses & dispensing optician. Our team provides a range of highly skilled specialised services such as low vision, complex adult & paediatric refraction & medical contact lenses. In addition, we provide extended roles including medical retina, glaucoma, eye casualty, IVT injections, cataract, cornea & diabetic services.
The successful applicant must demonstrate experience and expertise in the field of Glaucoma and or Medical Retina.
We fully support departmental teaching, Quality Improvement projects, CPD and are active within the research.
