Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time (10 PA) Consultant Ophthalmologist in Cornea to join our team within the Ophthalmology Service at Royal Free London NHS Trust.
The Ophthalmology department serves patient in the North Central London area and offers a comprehensive range of routine and specialist ophthalmic services and treatments across multiple sites. Sub-specialty services include medical retina, surgical retina, cornea / anterior segment, oculoplastic, neuro ophthalmology and glaucoma. The successful candidate will join a clinical team of Consultant Surgeons, Specialty Doctors and trainees, supported by Orthoptists, Optometrists, Nurses and Ophthalmic Technicians
Main Duties
- Lead the provision of Cornea services for Royal Free London NHS Trust
- Support infection prevention & control and antimicrobial stewardship activities.
- Participate in the supervision and training of specialty trainees and clinical scientists, teaching of other junior trainees, medical students and hospital staff as appropriate.
- Participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programme.
- Participate in quality improvementand clinical audit.
- Participate in service development and policy review.
- Participate in CPD and quality assurance activity including annual appraisal and revalidation.
