Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic midwife toprovide specialist midwife expertise across the NCL Local Maternity Neonatal Service (LMNS) and support in the development of the NCL Perinatal Pelvic Health Service (PPHS).
The post holder will be working jointly with another Pelvic Health Specialist Midwife in providing services across the NCL local maternity and neonatal system (LMNS) and working collaboratively with a Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist in a community PPHS clinic
-They will be location based in a south NCL Community Health Centre in Islington and a south NCL LMNS site (Whittington Hospital or UCLH), and will be required to travel to other LMNS on occasion for the purpose of audit and training.

Main duties of the job
- Contribute to deliver the priorities of the NCLS PPHS which include:
-Embedding evidence-based practice in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care to prevent and mitigate pelvic health issues resulting from pregnancy and childbirth.
-Improving the rate of identification of pelvic health issues antenatally and postnatally.
-Ensuring timely access to NICE-recommended treatment for common pelvic health issues antenatally and postnatally.
- To develop, pilot, implement and audit a new screening tool to identity women at a higher risk of the pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD).
- To support pelvic health training for midwives, ensuring ongoing training opportunities.
- To develop an implementation and training program and ongoing audit to ensure all Trusts are operating an OASI care bundles at the same standard.
- To collaborate with a Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, providing advanced assessment, clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with pelvic floor dysfunction, many being of a complex presentation.
- To organise appropriate onward referral to appropriate services in a timely manner.
- To act as a specialist pelvic health midwife resource for midwives and pelvic health physiotherapists within NCL LMNS, this will include education.
Working with line managers, to undertake evidence-based projects and audit, making recommendations for change in practice and development as and when required.
