Job summary
The Therapy Services team at Barnet Hospital part of The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a B6 Children's Physiotherapist to assess and treat children 5 to 16 with acute MSK conditions. Candidates should have experience at a B5 or B6 level working as a Children's Physiotherapist in the outpatient setting.
The post holder will have a caseload of children with acute Musculoskeletal conditions including post fracture, Rheumatology and Orthopaedic presentations. Some flexibility in start and finish times may be required to accommodate outpatients who require treatment outside of school hours.
The role will include assessing patients' therapy needs and devising, implementing and evaluating treatment plans. We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual with experience, skills and knowledge of the diverse paediatric specialty. The successful candidate should be a confident physiotherapist who possesses excellent communication skills required when liaising effectively with patients, parents/carers, and colleagues within the MDT and wider community health services.
You will be supported by a B7 and B8a Physiotherapist with regular supervision as well as peer supervision from the Children and adult MSK Teams.
Main duties of the job
- To assess and manage an outpatient caseload of children aged 5-16 with common Musculoskeletal concerns, orthopaedic presentations and some non-inflammatory Rheumatology e.g hypermobility.
- To hold a caseload of Children's outpatients with MSK and acute needs
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner whilst facilitating effective multidisciplinary care within relevant clinical areas.
- To work in a small integrated therapy team including Physiotherapy and Dietetics as well as liaising with and collaborating with the adult MSK team.
- To work with patient's families or carers to provide support and education to enhance their outpatient experience.
- To participate in Continuing Professional Development, evidence - based audit and research projects that will enhance the service.
- To support Physiotherapy students in the department as required.
