Job title - Senior Clinical Trials Research Pharmacist - Education & Training
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated clinical trials pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Clinical Trials team as a Band 8a Senior Clinical Trials Research Pharmacist - Education & Training. Research is of prime importance at the Trust, and this new post has been developed as part of the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Service Plan to support the delivery of the ambitions of the Trust R&D Strategy.
The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Manager (Pharmacist), Service Deputy to: (1) Ensure the smooth running of clinical trials handled by the Royal Free Clinical Trials Pharmacy department and (2) Develop, coordinate, and participate in the delivery of training for staff within the pharmacy clinical trials team and individuals external to the department who are involved in or support clinical trial delivery.
Potential candidates will have demonstrable experience of working in clinical trials pharmacy including undertaking capacity & capability review. They will have good working knowledge of clinical trials legislation, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP). They will additionally have experience in delivering education and training including assessing staff, supervision of staff, and day to day service delivery.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include the following:
- To maintain and support the Pharmacy Clinical Trials service in accordance with current UK Clinical Trials Regulations and all updates, GCP, GMP, GDP guidelines and departmental procedures
- Leading on specialist capacity and capability review, pharmacy approval and set-up of clinical trials for a portfolio of clinical specialities
- Checking the pharmacy set-up of clinical trials
- Reviewing, processing and checking amendments
- Assisting with the operational delivery of clinical trials
- Developing close working relationships with R&D, Principal Investigators, research delivery teams and the wider pharmacy team
- Provide pharmacy input at Trials Feasibility Committee (TFC) meetings
- Coordinate and participate in the delivery of training for pharmacy clinical trials staff (to included staff across all sites delivering hosted trials and working in IMP manufacture, packaging and distribution)
- Coordinate and participate in the delivery of clinical trial training for staff groups external to the pharmacy clinical trials team (including technical services staff, clinical pharmacy staff, and R&D delivery teams)
- Representing the clinical trials pharmacy team at relevant education and training meetings and other internal and external meetings as required
- Deputising for the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Manager (Pharmacist), Service Deputy in his/her absence
