Job summary
An exceptional opportunity is available for a dedicated Advanced Practitioner Lithotripsy Radiographer to join the Radiology Department at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be primarily responsible for performing Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) procedures to treat kidney stones, utilizing either x-ray or ultrasound guidance. In addition to clinical duties, the role includes managing the lithotripsy unit for optimal efficiency and quality of service, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and the Urology department to manage patient pathways, and providing leadership and guidance to a Lithotripsy Practitioner Radiographer within the unit. Essential qualifications include being a registered Radiographer with extensive experience in a radiology/urology environment, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills. Clinical experience in performing abdominal ultrasound is desirable but not mandatory, as training will be provided. The role comes with comprehensive training and ongoing support from a Urology Consultant.

Main duties of the job
Clinical ResponsibilitiesPartner closely with the Urology team for guidance and support.Administer Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) for kidney stone treatment.Engage in Urology Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings.Perform precise identification and adjustments for kidney stone treatment based on medical imaging.Maintain data integrity and uphold high clinical and patient care standards.Responsibility for PatientsEnsure informed consent and high-quality care during diagnostic imaging.Display effective and empathetic communication with patients and companions.Tailor care to meet the unique needs of each patient.Responsibility for Policy and Service DevelopmentUpdate and enforce lithotripsy unit policies in collaboration with the Radiology Senior Operations Manager.Engage in audit programs and employ Evidence-Based Practice for evaluations.Lead cross-departmental collaborations and participate in committees for patient care and operational efficiency.Responsibility for Financial and Physical ResourcesManage lithotripsy unit equipment and participate in quality assurance programs.Liaise with finance and procurement departments for budget and expenditure management.Responsibility for Leading and ManagingManage self and lead the team to deliver effective workloads.Provide mentorship and conduct regular performance reviews for staff.Implement leadership development programs and team-building activities.Responsibility for Information Resources
