Job summary

The estates and facilities team at Barnet Hospital are seeking a dynamic individual to lead on the delivery of patient focused quality facilities services to our staff and patients. The role will oversee the delivery and performance of a number of soft FM services at a busy hospital site. The ideal candidate will work closely with the site operational and executive teams to ensure that services deliver an excellent patient experience and continually strive to improve on performance standards across all reporting functions.

Main duties of the job

  • The head of facilities has line management responsibility for the operational soft FM (Barnet Hospital) team and contributes to the trust wide PLACE
  • Responsible for ensuring that all workforce measures are undertaken including sickness monitoring, absence, performance and conduct and preparing management statement of cases and the chairing of formal hearings in a timely manner.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that all services within their remit (in house, outsourced or wholly owned subsidiary) deploy the appropriate and cost-effective resources to ensure that quality services are maintained, Key Performance Indicators are achieved and that the patient experience is
  • Drafts, collates, prepares and presents performance reports on all aspects of soft FM services within their remit to the PLACE performance group, Infection Prevention and Control Committee and Local/Group Executive Committees as appropriate.
  • Accountable for ensuring appropriate work schedules, safe working practices, and ensuring the sufficient allocation and management of staff resources for all staff groups is in place. Works with colleagues on other hospital sites to ensure that all contractors delivering services across the Group deploy the same exacting
  • Responsible author for all Policies relating to soft FM and all environment processes and procedures, ensuring that they are reported to the appropriate committee and signed off in a timely

Education & professional Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Management or relevant subject area or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Postgraduate qualification Masters in Facilities Management or alternative relevant field or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Membership of BIFM or similar
  • Project management qualification, e.g. PRINCE2 or equivalent knowledge and experience

Experience

Essential

  • Direct line management experience
  • Management and/or monitoring of multiple contracted out services
  • Experience of managing a tendering process for high value and complex contracts
  • Experience of managing projects
  • Experience of producing service specifications / SLA's
  • Experience of face to face contact with the public and patients
  • Demonstrable

Desirable

  • management experience of soft facilities and contract management in an NHS or public sector environment at a senior management level.
  • Previous experience of working in a Private Finance (PFI)
  • Previous NHS experience
