Job summary
The post holder will work as a junior member of Pharmacy Procurement team.
The Pharmacy Procurement is responsible for drug savings towards over 100 million pounds drug expenditure every year. Invoice matching within required time is an essential factor to contribute to the savings. The post holder will be responsible for the matching of invoices for goods received by the pharmacy, and for liaising with suppliers with regard to any discrepancies found. Assist with procurement issues, deal with contract changes, maintenance of the contract database, and costs to customers (including cross charging companies if they fail to supply contract lines), according to key performance indicators, to analyse results and make improvements in stock management.
Excellent communication is required between the post holder and colleagues in other sections of the department, the Trust and with representatives of the Pharmaceutical Industry to provide an integrated service
Main duties of the job
The Pharmacy department of the Royal Free London NHS Trust is a friendly, progressive and expanding unit dedicated to providing the highest standards of pharmaceutical care and service in this large, internationally renowned teaching hospital.
The Pharmacy service at The Royal Free London is provided from 4 main sites across the Trust. The Pharmacy Procurement team is now centralised at The Royal Free Hampstead site, and will procure medicines for all pharmacy departments across this large Hospital Trust.
We are looking for a part time procurement support officer to help co-ordinate Pharmacy purchasing services, ensuring a timely delivery of high quality pharmaceutical products for the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and external organisations via service level agreements.
Applicants must have significant experience of pharmacy procurement with a thorough working knowledge of procurement.
Other key skills for this post include highly developed communication skills, initiative and the ability to work accurately in a structured and organised manner to meet specific deadlines, whilst dealing with the pressures of ad hoc requests and enquiries from other members of pharmacy team and suppliers is essential.
