Join the incredible Starlight Neonatal Unit--a hub of innovation and care. We're seeking dynamic SLT to support babies and families on the neonatal unit and beyond. Our unit has embraced Family Integrated Care, and we have also achieved Bronze status in the Bliss Baby Charter. We have begun our UNICEF Baby Friendly journey, aiming for level one. You will be part of a well-established neonatal therapy team. At Starlight/WestB6 we recognise the value and importance of breastfeeding and the provision of breastmilk in the neonatal unit. The successful candidate will be supported to complete their lactation training.
Main duties of the job
To manage and provide highly specialist assessment, differential diagnosis and therapeutic management of infants with dysphagia or developmental feeding and communication difficulties on the neonatal unit and provide cover to the acute paediatric ward as needed and on request.
To manage a designated caseload of neonatal inpatients producing a high standard of case notes and reports reflecting specialist neonatal knowledge.
To have acquired specialist skills in the areas of:
- Complex neonatal dysphagia management
- High risk infants
- Support of lactation and breastfeeding including knowledge of the Unicef Baby Friendly Initiative
- Development of feeding and swallowing
- Early communication and interaction
- Family Integrated Care
- Developmental care
- Acute paediatric assessment and intervention skills
