Job summary

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical / Counselling Psychologist to join our team of experienced specialist psychologists trained in a variety of models including cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, to provide highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations and treatment to people living with HIV.

Main duties of the job

Many people diagnosed with HIV find that living with HIV has a psychological impact on their life and mental wellbeing. The psychology service at the Ian Charleson Day Centre supports patients through all aspects of HIV, from diagnosis to treatment and living with HIV. The successful applicant will assist in the provision of offering specialist clinical psychology service to people with HIV and for issues that may affect their HIV condition and HIV care.

The post-holder will directly provide specialist advice regarding prevention of transmission of infection and adherence support. The post-holder will work within a small team of HIV psychologists and will support our creative, vibrant multi-disciplinary clinical team to deliver integrated care.

They will also offer advice and consultation to non-psychologist colleagues in the form of teaching and disseminating clinical psychological thinking through attending MDT meetings and facilitating complex case discussions. Other duties include offering specialist psychological support and expertise to patients' partners and families, and other specialities such as Hepatitis C, renal, liver disease, cancer and paediatric HIV service and ante-natal services.

You will have a clear interest in working within health psychology and a desirable interest in working with people living with HIV. You will need to be adaptable, confident and able to prioritise a combination of diverse demands on your time and be able to work autonomously.
