Locum Consultant in General Paediatrics

Main duties of the job
We invite applications for the post of a locum general paediatrician to cover for long term sickness (3 month FTC). The post holder will be part of the 1:12 Consultant on call rota at Barnet hospital site. The job comprises of 6 DCC and 1 SPA activities annualised.
About us
The Paediatric Department consists of a Children's Ward (24 beds), Pluto day unit (6 beds) and Paediatric Assessment Unit Co-located with paediatric emergency department. The department also provides Level 1 POSCU services at this site. The Level 2 Neonatal Unit has 30 cots, 4 of which are equipped for intensive care, 6 High Dependency and a 4-bed transitional care ward.
The Children's ward (Galaxy) accepts acute paediatric admissions, planned admissions for investigations and surgical cases (both acute and elective work). There are approximately 3,000 medical admissions annually to the ward which operates a 'Consultant of the week' system. Attending consultant also supports paediatric ED flow till 1PM on weekdays. Though some days there is overlapping cover provided by 2 PEM consultants. There is a separate on call consultant covering ED from 1PM onwards who are resident till 9 PM.
About 30000 children attend our dedicated paediatric ED each year which has 3 cubicles, 2 beds and breast feeding room and a dedicated paediatric resus bay. Paediatric Home Care Team which provides care for more than 800 children at their homes annually.
Paediatric out patients is based out of our sister site in Chase farm.
There are regular general paediatric clinics and specialist clinics for haematology, oncology, allergy, asthma, child development, diabetes, endocrinology, nephrology, cardiology (GOSH), dermatology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, genetics (Kennedy Galton) and neurology.
