Job summary

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at Barnet Hospital. You will be leading, delivering and developing a high-quality pharmacy service to North London Hospice, in close partnership and support from the Royal Free hospital pharmacy team. This will require you to work closely with the multidisciplinary palliative care team.

The principal role of this post holder is to lead on the management and provision of a comprehensive, high quality pharmacy service to patients requiring palliative care at the North London Hospice, and to patients receiving treatment at the Royal Free London.

Main duties of the job

The principal role of this post holder is to lead on the management and provision of a comprehensive, high quality pharmacy service to patients requiring palliative care at the North London Hospice, and to patients receiving treatment at the Royal Free London. The post holder will lead on the provision of education to healthcare professionals in all pharmaceutical aspects of palliative care services.

The post holder will be responsible for leading on the development of policies, guidelines, audits, research and promoting cost effective use of drugs. Working with senior clinicians and managers, the post holder will help to manage the hospice budget, ensuring the cost-effective use of medicines through new drug evaluations, financial reporting, and adherence to protocols and policies.

The post holder will identify areas where improvements in both the quality and cost effectiveness of pharmaceutical care and prescribing may be encouraged.

To work with all senior staff in specialist palliative care to review and develop policies

and procedures to ensure the safe and effective handling of medication at the hospice.
