Job summary
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is a tertiary referral centre for liver failure, liver transplantation, hepatobiliary surgery, vascular surgery, nephrology, renal transplantation, infectious diseases, and complex abdominal surgery.
We are looking for a motivated enthusiastic experienced Intensive Care nurse to join our team in a senior Band 7 position. Applicants will need a minimum of two years experience post-ICU course as a Band 6.
We admit approximately 2,000 patients each year and senior medical cover is provided by 26 Consultants, who provide a 24-hour cover worked in blocks to provide continuity of care.
Main duties of the job
- To be a clinical expert and have overall continuing responsibility for the delivery of high quality patient care and patient flow in our critical care units (ICU, HDU and PACU)
- Carries out specialist nursing procedures in caring for critically ill adults
- To be responsible for the supervision and development of all nurses, students (including medical students on placement) and support workers.
- To contribute to the effective management of the department resources including, pay and non-pay budgets, human resources and the clinical environment.
- To contribute to the development of polices and evidence-based practice as appropriate.
- To maintain a safe clinical environment conducive to patient care.
