Main duties of the job
The senior matron will be expected to provide senior leadership and support to the children's nursing teams and specialist nurses across the trust's geographical area.
The post holder will be required to work collaboratively with external stakeholders through the North Central London clinical networks and Sustainable Transformation Programme. They will be responsible for leading on defined projects across the hospital sites and reporting progress to the head of nursing

Job responsibilities
As the senior matron for the children and young peoples services at the Royal Free London Hospitals you will lead the operational nursing agenda for in-patient and out-patient services across the two main hospital sites supported by a childrens matron at both Barnet and the Royal Free Hospitals. In conjunction with the head of children and young peoples nursing you will be responsible for leading the quality, patient and staff experience agendas within children and young peoples services, providing expert advice to all areas where children and young people are seen within the Royal Free London Hospitals.
You will be supported in your leadership journey by a team of quality improvement experts and a multi-disciplinary team passionate about providing excellence across children and young peoples services. As part of the Barnet Business Unit you will be working with a wide range of senior nursing and therapy colleagues benefiting from expertise and experience across a range of disciplines. Your time will be equally divided between the Royal Free and Barnet Hospital sites with regular visits to Chase Farm and Edqware hospitals that host children and young peoples out-patient services.
Working alongside you will be a senior matron for neonates with whom you will share projects and acting up arrangements in the absence of the head of nursing.
