Job summary
We have a new opportunity for a motivated and experienced Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) to join our dynamic Respiratory, Surgery & Critical Care Therapy Team at Barnet Hospital - part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The post is full time, working 37.5 hours per week, but flexible working may be considered if raised at interview.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be:
- Based in the Respiratory, Surgery & Critical Care multi-profession therapy team alongside dieticians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and support workers, supported by a clinical lead.
- Experienced in tracheostomy management both with self-ventilating and ventilated patients.
- Joining a supportive team of senior SLT's working within specialty groups that include Neurology, Head and Neck Cancer, Voice / General medicine /Health Services for the Elderly overseen by a professional lead for SLT.
- Required to provide support and advice to other members of the team and wider MDT on SLT management of patients and clinical supervision to more junior therapists, therapy assistants and students.
- Working as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that patients receive timely assessments and interventions.
- Working towards development of specialist clinical / technical skills for interpretative assessment techniques and interventions (e.g. FEES, Videofluoroscopy, Phonetic Transcription, stroboscopy)
- Aware of current guidelines and research relevant to this clinical area and able to implement this into their practice.
Participating in the SLT bank holiday rota as an autonomous practitioner within the Trust
