Job summary
There is one post for a General Paediatric Locum Consultant coming up to join the existing team.
You should be able to provide acute Paediatric emergency and ambulatory care and provide Consultant of the week cover on Paediatrics, Neonates and the Paediatrics Assessment unit as well as take on-call in both acute Paediatrics and neonatology.
Outpatient activities provide an opportunity to further develop special interest, and it is expected that the new Consultant will individually and within teams provide services in the above specialities.
***Please note this role is a maternity cover starting from Jul 2026 until July 2027***
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for one WTE Locum Consultant Paediatrician to join the department. The post will be based primarily in the Paediatric Department at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with responsibilities across the Trust.
There is an expectation that the post holders will have an interest, or experience, in Cardiology. If the successful candidates do not have the relevant experience, they will be supported to develop this role, which will be included in their job plan.
The posts will complement a team of 14 consultants to provide attending and on-call services for General Paediatrics and Level 1 Neonatal Unit.
On call: With this post the on-call commitments will become 1 in 14.
