Job summary

AMU-WEST ward is looking for a motivated, hardworking, flexible and Positive Band 6 to come and Join our Team.

AMUWEST is a 23 bedded female Acute Assessment Unit. We receive patients from A&E and Medical Ambulatory Care and accommodate patients with a Large variety of Medical conditions.

We work Closely with a Range of Multidisciplinary teams and work as advocates to ensure that our patients have the best plan of care to ensure that they have a positive journey throughout their hospital stay.

It is a Fast pace Unit but we work closely as a team and deal with the day to day pressures with Positivity and high levels of energy.

Main duties of the job

You will need to have a previous Experience in a Senior Nurse Post or Previous Band 6 experience.

You will need to be a motivated team orientated professional with a passion for delivering high standards of nursing care in an ever changing environment and work within a Multi professional team.

It is very important that you communicate effectively within this environment and act in line with the Ward Philosophy.

You will be required to take in charge of a shift and manage the ward in the Absence of the Line Manager and be able to communicate effectively to all levels.

Key elements include the following:

  • Strong professional leadership skills which is critical to delivering the high standards of care our Trust requires, passion to be able to motivate and increase staff morale .
  • Dealing with day to day issues such as staff sickness, Rota, complaints and Tendable Audits.

  • RGN - Proof of current registration.
  • Degree Level Qualification or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Evidence of recent and consistent professional study/development, including dementia care development / study and leadership development / study

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Significant post registration experience
  • Significant medical acute care experience and working with adults with mental health needs.
  • Extensive experience of the holistic assessment of patient needs and care
  • Significant communication and presentation skills
