Band 6 Registered Nurses in the Emergency Department must be adaptable and skilled in managing a wide range of presentations across all areas of the department. This includes working in Minors--applying dressings, plaster casts, and wound closures--as well as in Majors or the Resuscitation area. You will need experience, sound clinical judgement, a solid understanding of escalation processes, and the ability to make timely decisions to prioritise care effectively.

Main duties of the job
You will be expected to assist the Ward Managers with appraisals, performance, absence management, build the team, focus on wellbeing and morale.
You must have significant ED experience and in charge experience , you will be triage trained, have excellent communication, team working skills, be able to make sound clinical decisions and support flow and patient care in ED.
To take charge of an area, be able to escalate concerns and prioritise and manage staffing with the support of the band 7 and ED Bronze. Make a thorough assessment of the patient's needs and document these in accordance with Trust policies.
Formulate a plan of care based on the identified needs of the patient, taking into account current evidence based research findings and ensure that all the care planned is delivered to the patient at the highest possible standard.
Work within the professional scope of practice and adhere to the NMC code of conduct, maintain professional development and high standards of communication.
Evaluate and document nursing actions and alter the care plan in accordance with the changing needs of the patient. To act as an advocate for the patient at all times and promote patient health through education
Pro-actively communicate and liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team on matters affecting patient care. Ensure the rights of patients are respected at all times and assist in the provision of information, enabling informed decisions to be made about their care.
