Job summary
We are looking for a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic with a special interest in Upper Limb and Trauma surgery. You would join the existing team of more than 50 Trauma & Orthopaedic consultants across MSE and will primarily be based at the Southend Hospital site.
Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust is made up of three Acute hospitals based at Basildon, Broomfield and Southend, all of which have access to MRI/CT diagnostic equipment. Additional elective day-case and inpatient theatre capacity is provided through a dedicated elective orthopaedic centre at Braintree Community Hospital which has recently been accredited as one of only 8 National Elective Orthopaedic Hubs by GIRFT.
Main duties of the job
The role involves supporting the Orthopaedic service through participation in daily ward rounds and assisting in elective adult orthopaedic and fracture clinics. The post holder will take part in both elective theatre lists and regular trauma theatre sessions, contributing to the assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of patients. Attendance at relevant departmental and divisional meetings is required to ensure effective communication and service development. The position also includes participation in a 1:12 on-call rota to provide out-of-hours clinical support.
