WE have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Team Leader - Trauma and Orthopaedics.

You would be Oversee the efficient management and coordination of the Speciality theatre ensuring high quality patient care and service delivery.This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise and effective team management to support both staff and patients. You willProvide strong professional leadership to enhance quality of care and boost staff morale.Serve as a role model for behaviors that foster a blame-free culture and promote teamwork.Participate in the 24-hour operational management of the Main Theatre unit.

Main duties of the job

  • Establish and maintain a high profile within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Responsible for receiving and checking patients.
  • Work in partnership with patients and families to provide accurate information, promote understanding, and eliminate barriers.
  • Maintain accurate and legible records of patient care, supervising others in accordance with NMC/HCPC code of professional conduct, local, and Trust policies.
  • Recognise legal and ethical responsibilities related to accurate record keeping.
  • Participate in direct patient care.Deputise for delegated tasks as assigned by Theatre Matron and Theatre Manager.
  • Undertake Theatre Floor Coordinator role as required.
  • Assist in maintaining patient and environmental standards within theatres to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Participate in the practical and theoretical training of theatre staff and learners.
  • Foster a learning environment by encouraging inquiry and continuous development.
  • Organise and participate in in-house training activities, including demonstration and use of specialised products and technical equipment.
  • Evaluate new methods of practice related to patient care and equipment.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identifying, managing, and reducing risks, and developing recommendations within the theatre complex.
  • Actively ensure all risk management issues are handled according to Trust policy.

Take ownership of developing their deputies by actively mentoring, coaching, and providing structured growth opportunities. Delegating meaningful tasks and decision-making authority to deputies to build confidence and capability. Facilitate the clinical development of staff members within the specialty theatre team. Take responsibility as first-line manager for all staff within the speciality. Ensure accurate compilation of duty rotas and work rotas to establish an appropriate deployment of manpower and maintain an appropriate skill mix. Call staff to account for their actions, directing and encouraging as appropriate. Monitor staff sickness/absence and undertake sick reviews in line with policy. Supervise and manage team members. Motivate the team to ensure high performance and engagement. Conduct quality appraisals for team members within the speciality team and ensure each team member has a personal development plan. Liaise with the Practice Education Team Leader, regarding the training needs of speciality team members. Attend meetings relevant to the speciality, ensuring the Theatre Manager and Matron receive feedback from these forums.
