Job summary

Ladybird Nursery are looking for an enthusiastic, approachable and experienced deputy manager to support our nursery manager, and our friendly and hard-working team.

If successful, you will be responsible for supporting the nursery manager with the day-to-day operational provision and management of the Mid & South Essex Foundation Trust Ladybird Nursery, based at Southend Hospital.

This includes staff management, health and safety, safeguarding, effective communications and staff involvement, implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage, coordinating the team and nursery activities in order to offer a high level of childcare in a safe, stimulating and caring environment.

Main duties of the job

You will deputise the Nursery Manager and operate autonomously in their absence, and assist with the responsibility for the day to day operational provision and management of Southend Hospital NHS Trust's Day Nursery Ladybird, this includes staff management, health and safety and parent partnership.

Formulate staff rosters together with the Nursery Manager, to ensure sufficient staff resources are available to meet occupancy levels of the nursery.

Assist the manager in maintaining the nursery waiting list and identification of nursery places to ensure maximum occupancy

Manage a designated Ladybird area and being accountable for the day to day running of the curriculum and developmental activities

Work with designated team members in order to achieve a high level of childcare by being responsible for the planning and implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework

You will implement and promote all Trust and Nursery Policies, for example: Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, and the Children Act 1989 and 2004 (revised).

Support all Nursery Co-ordinators e.g. Special Needs, Equal Opportunities, Child Protection and Health and Safety.

Implement the EYFS and other childcare and government initiatives.

Organise, Lead and attend and contribute to monthly staff meetings

Assist in the implementation and co-ordination of nursery fund raising and social events throughout the year

Essential

  • Full & relevant Early Years Level 3 qualification
  • Paediatric First Aid Certificate
  • Designated safeguarding lead training certificate

Desirable

  • Food hygiene Level 5 or Degree
  • Level 4/ DSL safeguarding certificate

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • At least 3 years supervision / experience in a childcare environment.
