Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, skilled and innovative Specialist Nurse with a wide range of experience in respiratory/allergy conditions to join our passionate and enthusiastic team. This is a full time position to cover maternity leave, which has excellent potential for professional development. The post is for a band 6 level, however if the post holder meets the necessary criteria for experience and relevant training, a band 7 post can be reviewed.
You need to be well organized, motivated and committed to further developing and delivering high quality holistic multidisciplinary care; enjoy supporting children and their families in the outpatient, daycare, inpatient and A&E setting.
The NS role also includes delivering staff training and education for the management of children with asthma and wheeze across the Trust and non-invasive ventilation/LTV support to the inpatient areas.
You will be required to oversee the safe discharge of patients from hospital to home, assist in the review of patients in the MDT asthma outpatient clinic and support the acute inpatient areas including the emergency department.
You will be covering Asthma and non-invasive ventilation. There is a wide scope for development within the team to cover these aspects of respiratory.
Please note that this is a Fixed Term Contract that ends on 20th January 2027.
Main duties of the job
Our Paediatric Allergy and Respiratory Nurse Specialist post offers a unique opportunity to work alongside medical and specialist nursing colleagues in both the hospital and the community. You will need to act as a resource on the management and treatment of asthma & respiratory conditions in childhood for patients, carers and healthcare professionals and develop strong relationships with both children and their families.
The Nurse Specialist shall be expected to lead and manage his/her own respiratory workload. This will include provision of expert advice and knowledge in the management and co-ordination within the multidisciplinary service for children and taking a holistic approach to the child and family.
