Are you interested in a career in Biomedical science? Then this is the opportunity for you. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Biomedical Scientist to join our Biochemistry team in the Blood Sciences department.
Blood Sciences at Broomfield Hospital is a friendly department that incorporates Biochemistry, Blood Transfusion, Haematology, Immunology and Sample Reception. The department provides analytical services for the Mid Essex Trust, St Andrews Burns Unit and other NHS & non-NHS providers. Biochemistry also provides the Maternal Serum Screening service for the area.
We have 1 permanent post and 1 Fixed term ( 12 months) post available
Main duties of the job
The department provides analytical services for the Mid Essex Trust, St Andrews Burns Unit and other NHS / non-NHS providers. The department is equipped with Beckman automation, Roche E411, CZE for proteins, HPLC and Kryptors for the Downs service , with Winpath Enterprise as the laboratory computer system in use. The department is fully UKAS ISO15189 accredited.
The department regularly hold lunchtime seminars and we have a full-time Training Lead in post across Blood Sciences to support training needs. You must be keen to develop your knowledge and skills but to also develop others.
You will be required to obtain and maintain competency in all relevant areas of the laboratory.
Once competent the post will require participation in shift work on our 24/7 rota working nights, lates and weekends.
