Therapy assistant- Pulmonary Rehab

Job summary

Exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our Nationally accredited Pulmonary Rehabilitation service on a part time fixed term contract.

The role will involve working with people with long term lung conditions to provide an exercise programme in a class environment at both the main hospital site and community localities.

We are a small enthusiastic team committed to improving the lives of people living with breathlessness.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role include:

  • Supporting qualified therapists to deliver face to face exercise classes
  • Telephone calls to patients to discuss appointments
  • Administration tasks linked to the classes
  • Maintaining accurate records for patients attending assessments and rehabilitation classes
  • Maintaining accurate data in line with the data collection requirements of the service.

The role will include working at sites away from the main hospital, so access to a car to travel to these locations is essential.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 5 GCSE's or Equivalent (inc English and Maths)
  • NVQ 3 or Equivalent in a health related subject
  • Competent IT skills

Desirable

  • Experience with NHS IT systems

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Experience working with people
  • Understanding of the role of the physiotherapist and occupational therapist
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a hospital
  • Experience with patients with breathing difficulties
