Job summary
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
The Oral & Maxillofacial department at MSEFT have had an exciting opportunity to expand the department.
The successful applicant will be based at Southend Hospital, however, as with all MSE appointments, consultants will be required to work at any of our spoke sites or in outlying clinics to provide a service to over 1.6 million people.
Applications are invited from accredited specialists in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery who are on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining the CCT or equivalent at interview stage.
Applicants must be registered with the General Medical Council and hold an appropriate higher surgical qualification and preferably should also be fully registered with the General Dental Council.
Main duties of the job
Lead and support General Oral Surgery clinics and contribute to General Anaesthetic theatre sessions.
Deliver Local Anaesthesia procedures and take a lead role in the development and delivery of safe sedation services.
Provide clinical advice and support to primary care dental and medical practitioners across the region.
Contribute to clinical triage and ensure efficient patient administration and pathway management.
Participate in monthly clinical governance meetings, supporting service improvement and safety initiatives.
Engage in audit and research activities, with 1.5 PAs allocated for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) including teaching, development, and clinical leadership.
