Job summary

The Senior Healthcare Assistant Champion will work as part of the corporate professional education team delivering support and supervision for HCA across the Trust who are newly recruited and undertaking their care certificates during their probationary period.

Key to helping retention of new HCAs, the Champions will provide a point of contact for HCAs who require additional support and direction with clinical and pastoral care. They will collate data to support the health and wellbeing and clinical interventions that improve staff experience for HCA and career choices.

Main duties of the job

Support the induction and supervision of new nursing colleagues to Mid and south Essex foundation Trust

Act as a senior HCA, providing clinical guidance and pastoral support for band 2 and 3 HCA's across the Trust

Deliver practical teaching during clinical induction and recruitment

Promote excellent patient care through the delivery of HCA support, guidance and assessment of the care certificate

Contribute to the delivery of the Health & Wellbeing strategy that will support all health care assistants across the Trust

Identifying and supporting staff who are vulnerable and susceptible to leaving through direct contact in clinical practice and wellbeing conversations

Providing pastoral support and coaching, recognising own limitations, and appropriately referring to other colleagues who can provide support related specifically to their colleagues needs

Act as the HCA health and wellbeing champion across the Trust
