Job summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housekeeper to join our dynamic team within the Renal Haemodialysis Unit. This is a vital role supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care by ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients undergoing life-sustaining dialysis treatment.
As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across both clinical and non-clinical areas. Your duties will include cleaning and preparing dialysis bays, managing stock and supplies, supporting infection prevention protocols, and assisting with non-clinical patient needs such as refreshments and comfort.
This role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. You will interact regularly with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals, so a caring and respectful approach is essential.
Main duties of the job
Provide high standards of cleaning across clinical and non-clinical areas, ensuring infection prevention and control standards are met. Safely store and maintain stock, ensuring resources are used efficiently. Demonstrate compassion, respect, and professionalism in all interactions with patients, carers, and colleagues.
Prepare and maintain patient areas for haemodialysis, ensuring equipment is clean, safe, and functional. Report maintenance issues promptly and liaise with estates and facilities teams as required. Monitor and replenish essential supplies, including PPE and cleaning products.
Support audits and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to a positive image of renal services. Assist with patient transport coordination and documentation, and ensure waiting areas and noticeboards are kept tidy and up to date.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver a seamless patient journey, maintaining confidentiality and dignity at all times. Participate in induction and ongoing training to develop knowledge and skills.
