Job summary
To work within the division of Trauma and Orthopaedics based at Basildon Hospital to facilitate the smooth running of the patient journey by ensuring that co-ordinated and streamlined administrative processes revolve around the patient and their individual needs.
Provide administrative support to clinical staff within the Trauma and Orthopaedic POD including; Consultants, Surgical Care Practitioners and Junior Doctors ensuring effective co- ordination of their diaries etc. This will include the management of waiting lists and overseeing outpatient activity and ensuring appropriate action with regards to cancellation and re- instating of commitments in line with planned and unplanned leave.
Support the clinical team, Service Managers and Patient Access Team in ensuring the division can deliver safe and effective services whilst also ensuring compliance with contractual access targets e.g the 18 weeks Referral to Treatment target (RTT).
Provide cross cover for other Patient Pathway Co-ordinators to ensure a consistent and effective administration service is always maintained.

Main duties of the job
Co-ordinate, monitor and initiate appropriate changes within administrative processes along the patient pathway to ensure the patient's journey is managed efficiently, smoothly and in accordance with targets and agreed timescales.
Manage admitted and non-admitted waiting lists to ensure targets are maintained and patientsare booked in accordance with wait times and clinical priority.
Utilise computerised tracking systems to monitor and follow-up investigation results.
Liaise with teams outside of the speciality e.g GPs where appropriate to ensure seamless patient journey.
Ensure patient information is maintained and updated on the appropriate patient information system.
Monitor patient attendance to appointments and re-arrange/book further appointments as required and manage the booking of patient admissions and pre-assessment appointments.
Demonstrate high levels of patient care and be an ambassador for patient care within the Trust. Acting as the communication hub for the clinical team.
Be responsible for dealing with and recording all concern/complaints coming into the department, both on the telephone and in writing, escalating as appropriate.
