Job summary
Applicants are invited to apply for a permanent full time Specialty Doctor post within the Anaesthetics Department at Southend University Hospital. This post is to commence as soon as possible, subject to successful pre-employment checks.
The proposed timetable provides Anaesthetic cover for a range of surgical specialties, on the basis of ten programmed activities of cover plus optional Additional Programmed activities which is based on a 7 week cycle. Participation in a 1:7 duty rota is expected. (This includes weekends).
Specialty doctors wishing to pursue CESR will have access to guidance and support from our CESR lead coordinator and the clinical supervisors
N.B. we are unable to count Clinical Fellow/Specialty Registrar experience when calculating your salary as per the 2021 Terms and Conditions.
Main duties of the job
- The proposed timetable within the Job Description provides Anaesthetic cover for a range of surgical specialities, on the basis of ten programmed activities of cover.
- Participation in on call duty rota which includes weekends and nights.
- Other duties include pre- and post-operative visiting of patients, audit, administrative, and other departmental functions.

- Completed 4 years full time post graduate training (or equivalent if part time) at least 2 of which shall be in a specialty training programme in the specialty or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
Desirable
- FRCA or equivalent
- Other higher qualification, eg Masters, Diploma in releveant field

- Evidence of independent working throughout work experience

- Obstetric anaestheisa on call experience
