Job summary
The post holder will be responsible for leading the day-to-day management of incidents and their review, identifying incidents which need escalation, identification and management of risk and compliance within the Emergency department and Acute Medicine division under the direction of the Governance Lead, working collaboratively with other managers including the MSE Patient Safety and Risk and Compliance teams to delivering the trusts governance handbook.
Specifically, the role will provide governance expertise to lead on the effective and timely review of incidents, their management and appropriate escalations, risk review and reporting and supporting the regulatory compliance agenda. An expert knowledge of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF), the principles of risk management and the duty of candour processes to ensure CQC regulations are met. To promote an open and transparent culture that actively improves clinical safety and quality.
The post holder will be an effective ambassador for the trust, be credible and knowledgeable with the confidence and interpersonal skills to support staff at all levels in the divisions.
Working collaboratively to deliver on national, CQC and local service standards, through the delivery of the annual plan and strategic objectives, through role modelling the values and behaviours set out in our Leadership and Management Behaviour Framework.
Main duties of the job
The Governance Facilitator will work as a member of the Southend Governance team in the Emergency Department and Acute Medicine supported by the Divisional Governance Lead to support an organisational safety culture that focuses on high quality care standards.
