Medical Personal Assistant Paediatrics

Job summary
To provide an effective, efficient personal assistant and secretarial service to the Paediatric Consultants. To liaise with departments across the Trust, general practitioners, patients, relatives and visitors, resolving queries as appropriate in a timely manner. To undertake office duties as required.
Main duties of the job
Prioritise workload and complete within prescribed timescales.
Respond promptly and effectivey and appropriately to telephone and personal enquiries.
Deal with correspondence appropriately.
Maintain effective communication (verbal/written) with Consultants, GPs, patients etc.
To provide a full secretarial service to clinicians including audio typing/transcription and processing of clinical letters, reports (some of a distressing nature.
Undertake the full range of personal assistant duties, including diary management.
Provide advice and demonstrate own initiatives of workplace routines to new or less experienced employees within the team.
Promote good customer relations and public image of the department.
Arrange patients' outpatient appointments using Medway / Careflow and inform patients of appointments by post and telephone. To rearrange appointments if required to do so either by patient, GP, manager or consultant request.
