Staff Nurse - Urology Outpatients

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Nurse to work within the Urology Outpatient Department at Southend Hospital.

  • The post holder will work with the ward manager and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care and staff development, as part of the ward team.
  • Following the preceptorship period the post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise unqualified and adaptation staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
  • To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
  • To provide a high standard of individualised care to patients, whilst maintaining at all times the patient's privacy and dignity.

Main duties of the job

With this role you will need to:

  • To provide and maintain the highest possible standards of patient care.
  • To develop and maintain good ward management and organisational skills.
  • To provide effective support for the ward manager and sister/charge nurse, ensuring self-development in the day-to-day management of the ward.
  • Under the supervision of the ward / department manager to work on delegated projects relating to local policy and service development.
  • To work towards an awareness of service delivery plans .
  • To be involved actively in the implementation of Trust policies and procedures at ward / department level, reinforcing their use.
  • Maintain, update and develop personal and professional knowledge and skills, at first under supervision, using the Trust's Performance Review System, enabling standards of patient care to be monitored constantly and improved.
