Job summary
This specialist role is designed specifically for the needs of pregnant women who are at a high risk of premature birth, and will work in close collaboration with the bereavement midwife and the preterm birth consultants.
This role will involve you working within the Preterm Birth service which also incorporates the bereavement service. It is run by a consultant obstetrician and supported by specialist obstetricians.
This service is also supported by the wider multidisciplinary team and care professionals, who are able to perform a cervical cerclage procedures within the Trust.
You will be required to support pregnant women and their families by ensuring that they are correctly monitored through cervical length scanning and facilitating treatment to try to prevent preterm birth within your scope of professional practice.
In addition, you will be required to monitor referrals into the service which will include oversight of in-utero transfer requests into and out of the unit, ensuring that the administration and standards of the preterm birth service are appropriately met.
Main duties of the job

It is expected that in line with the development of the Preterm Birth Service, additional responsibilities that are commensurate to the role will be undertaken. The post requires a motivated individual who encompasses the Trust values and the specialist skills essential to manage both distressing and highly emotional circumstances.
