Job summary
The Unified Desktop Windows 11 Lead Engineer role is responsible for the successful rollout in provided areas of both Windows 11 upgrades and refreshed hardware. Working with up between 5 and 10 refresh engineers at a time, the individual will ensure that resources are correctly deployed in order for delivery to proceed in line with expected rate metrics.
As Unified Desktop /Windows 11 Lead Engineer, working closely with Unified Desktop Engineers, the Head of Digital Operations, Unified Desktop Technical Lead and counterparts in the Project Delivery team, you will be expected to take responsibility for the successful on-the-ground delivery of the project rollouts. The Windows 11 programme is high-profile, strictly time bound and requires close co-operation with Project teams, planning, monitoring and reporting to deliver against its planned deadlines and expected benefits
Main duties of the job
The Unified Desktop /Windows 11 Lead Engineer will work with an initial team of 9-12 located across all hospital sites at MSE with the main twin objectives of replacing all end user equipment identified for replacement in a given financial year and the successful upgrade of all equipment currently running the Windows 10 OS to Windows 11 including domain migration. The latter objective is linked to the further goal of delivering Unified Desktop end-user functionality across the Trust. The MSE digital estate is an enterprise environment both in scale and complexity and the role requires an experienced and confident individual to navigate the technical and organisational challenges they will face in the role. As well as Windows based desktops and laptops, the End-User estate includes other different asset types including but not limited to iPods, iPads, monitors, TVs, AV Equipment, Unified Comms handsets and peripherals. Various of these items will fall under the Trust's rolling refresh programme, separate from the Windows 11 work
