Here is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Lead Paediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - Haematology & Non-Malignant Hemoglobinopathies.

The role of the lead nurse is to be a role model for expert autonomous clinical practice. The post holder will frame their expert clinical practice with professional leadership and practice. They will lead on departmental development, education and training alongside audit and service evaluation. The lead nurse will act as an expert nurse resource in sickle cell and thalassaemia care and other non malignant haematological conditions of children throughout the Trust for nursing and medical colleagues.

To provide leadership and professional advice support and guidance to the senior team.

To be a visible professional role model providing strong, facilitative and effective clinical leadership for high quality care.

Act as a clinical expert in sickle cell and thalassaemia patient management.

Act as a clinical expert in non malignant paediatric haematology patient management eg ITP, congenital neutropenia.

Undertake technically skilled clinical care as identified in line with scope for professional practice e.g. automated red cell exchange transfusion, cannulation and venepuncture nurse led discharge.

Initiate and lead departmental MDT discussions and supervise record keeping and communication.
