Trainee Clinical Scientist - Radiotherapy Physics (IPEM Route 2 Training Scheme)
This trainee role offers a structured pathway through the IPEM Route 2 Training Scheme, leading to HCPC registration. You'll gain hands-on experience, academic qualifications, and specialist skills while working with an expert team dedicated to advancing radiotherapy services.
You will participate in the Route 2 Training Scheme with the planned outcome of producing a portfolio for successful review by the Association of Clinical Scientists (ACS), resulting in registration as a Clinical Scientist.
You will receive the training and support needed to achieve the competencies defined by the ACS in Radiotherapy Physics. This includes attendance at an approved MSc course (if not already completed), external specialist training, and comprehensive in-house learning delivered by our experienced team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to build expertise, contribute to the delivery of cutting-edge radiotherapy services, and progress towards professional registration as a Clinical Scientist.
Main duties of the job
To undergo Pre-Registration supernumerary Route 2 training by providing support to all aspects of the work, and undertake a broad range of tasks (below) progressively following training.
Prioritise and manage own training to meet agreed outcomes, maintaining a high standard of scientific achievement.
To prepare Radiotherapy treatment plans and all associated calculations.
To measure treatment machine parameters as part of the department's quality assurance programme.
To measure and calculate radiation output of radiotherapy treatment machines and radioactive sources.
To maintain complete records of all quality assurance and dosimetric checks performed.
To adhere to the requirements of the departments quality system and other departmental policies.
To ensure the highest levels of radiation and mechanical safety in all duties.
