As the Outpatient's Receptionist at Basildon Hospital, you will be responsible for providing clerical support to the Booking/Reception Team - including general administration duties, telephone enquiries, reception work and booking appointments.
Please note this role will require rota working with shifts varying between 8AM - 4PM / 9AM - 5PM and requires travel between sites (Basildon Hospital & Orsett Hospital). This role is a site-based role and there currently isn't any opportunity for working from home.
Main duties of the job
Welcome patients to the outpatient areas. Check information with the patient and ensure all information entered onto computer systems is accurate and up-to-date.
Register new patients on the Electronic Patient Record system (EPR) and update patient demographics as and when required.
Book patients into the department using EPR system and outcome their attendance
Working in the call centre, speaking to patients about appointments, changing moving and cancelling where required
Arrange patient transport and interpreters as necessary.
Have a good working knowledge of 18 weeks and what that means to the Patients and the Trust.
Have the ability to sort and disseminate the daily post
Share knowledge with less experienced staff.
Ensure messages, whether in person, by telephone or Email are passed on to appropriate staff in a timely manner.
Within levels of own competence arrange daily workload to ensure continuity of delivery of service.
Comply with all mandatory courses, protocols and procedures and ensure work areas are tidy and conform to Health & Safety requirements.
Cover other areas in the department as and when required, with training, if necessary.
