Job summary
We have an wonderful opportunity to join the Accident and Emergency department as a Clinical Fellow ST1- 8 where your main service commitments will be, under the supervision of the Consultants, as an ST1-2 to supervise the FY2s/CT1s or as an ST3+ to supervise the FY2s/CT1s and Junior Clinical Fellows, whilst maintaining a 'hands on' approach with patients.
Out of hours you will be expected to assist in the running of the shop floor and manage the department using the newly initiated patterns of working to achieve the current targets and integral within these are the 'Resus Lead' and 'Rapid Assessment Team' which are roles which will be undertaken by the CESR doctors within the department, as the Clinical Fellow you would also be expected to support the daily review clinic.
The Consultants are very committed to teaching and post-graduate training and will ensure appropriate opportunities for professional development and the rota is a full shift pattern providing 24 hour cover to the Emergency Department.

Main duties of the job
Your role will be the assessment, resuscitation, management and safe transfer (where necessary) of seriously ill and injured patients, care of patients on the observation ward as required., referral of patients to in-patient facilities as appropriate, supervision of junior staff and the involvement in Emergency Medicine multi-disciplinary teams and meetings.
You will be involved in the proactive patient management to achieve timely and high quality assessment and management, the teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and nursing staff and be actively involved in audit and the development of departmental policies.
You will play an active role in the day-to-day management and administration of the Emergency department.

- ST3+ - Completed at least 2 years full time post graduate training or equivalent in a relevant specialty
- ST 3+ - Possession of ATLS, ALS, PALS or APLS certificates
