Junior Clinical Fellow (Orthogeriatric)

Job summary

Applications are invited for a full-time post of Junior Clinical Fellow Orthogeriatric . The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as possible, and this will be a permanent post.

The successful candidate will gain experience of true multidisciplinary working in a busy hospital. They will gain experience in managing the perioperative care of older trauma patients predominantly with femoral fractures, from admission through to rehabilitation and discharge. This will involve working closely with the Orthogeriatric medicine Consultant and Senior Clinical Fellow, the Trauma nurse specialists, Orthopaedic surgeons, Ward nurses, Administrative and Clerical staff, Therapists, and Anaesthetists.

Candidates will require full registration with the General Medical Council. The post-holder will be encouraged to develop clinical, managerial, and quality improvement skills within the Trust. Main duties of the job

You will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of services and will share Consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management.

Subject to the provisions of the Terms and Conditions of Service, you are expected to observe Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters.

You will be expected to make sure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.All medical and dental staff employed by heath authorities are expected to comply with appropriate health and safety policies.

You will provide a service of the highest quality, which includes assessing and providing careto patients referred from the Emergency Department with femoral fractures and other trauma, and patients who are current in-patients under the care of the Orthogeriatric team.

You can work flexibly as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of the perioperative service and assist the consultant and other senior staff in their clinical dutieswhen required.
