Job summary
We are delighted to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic colleagues to join the existing multidisciplined team based at Basildon Hospital.
The primary focus of this post is to provide consultant level leadership and we aim to do this by ensuring we recruit a colleague who will enjoy working collaboratively in this ambitious but friendly team.
The working week will include acute work, clinics , lab work and imaging sessions.
Education is well-supported and research is strongly encouraged.

Main duties of the job
This is a Consultant Cardiologist post with a subspecialist interest .
The post-holder will principally contribute to the Consultant of the Week (1:8) on call at Basildon.
For bradycardia pacing there will be the expectation they join the device on call rota on a 1:8 ratio
The work programme attached to this job plan is detailed below. The supporting activity sessions (minimum 1.5 PA for consultants in accordance with MSE policy, plus 1.0 for specific activity such as approved research, teaching or management activity) will include time for continuing professional development and audit. This is a clinical post only.
Agreement should be reached between the appointee and the Clinical Chair with regard to the scheduling of the Supporting Professional Activities.
Consultants are also expected to work with service managers and clinical colleagues to manage their caseload in a flexible way, to ensure both clinical, national and local priorities, such as maximum waiting times for referral to treatment, are achieved.
