WE are pleased to be invite applications for a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, with experience in Trans Catheter Aortic Valve Intervention (TAVI) to join our engaged and inclusive Interventional Cardiology team at our award winning Cardio Thoracic Centre (CTC), consisting of 3 consultants and supported by two dedicated nurses.
Cardiothoracic services play a key role in delivering high quality patient care for the population of Essex. The Division focuses all aspects of adult cardiovascular, respiratory and thoracic disease and all aspects of adult cardiovascular and thoracic trauma.
As our successful applicant, using your experience, you will join our renowned TAVI team full time to facilitate a planned business case approved expansion in TAVI service.

Main duties of the job
Your role will involve 7 Programmed Activities per week including TAVI procedures, MDT participation, CT reporting and clinics, collaborative working with cardiothoracic surgery, imaging and anaesthetic colleaguesActive participation in thrice-weekly MDTs and interventional governance and we you will have office and secretarial support, with flexible job planning and mentoring provided.
You will have day-to-day responsibility for patients on the ward and will take part in consultant ward rounds and ensure that GP e-discharge letters containing all relevant information are sent, give advice when required to clinical nurse practitioners and junior medical staffwhere appropriate and ensure case notes are properly completed, drug prescriptions are regularly reviewed, appropriate investigations are carried out and results acted upon and made available for consultant ward rounds.
You will be expected to provide cover for colleague's annual leave and other authorised absence, to work flexibly with colleagues to achieve the hospital agreed planned activity for inpatient and outpatient services, to ensure that standards are developed through clinical audit, evidence based research and appraisal and to ensure all inpatients are reviewed every 24 hours by a senior doctor.
