Job summary
The Assistant Service Manager is a member of the Divisional Management Team, reports to the Service Unit Manager / General Manager and is accountable to the Deputy Director of Operations.
Supporting the Service Unit Manager/General Manager in the operational delivery and performance management to ensure key access standards are met, maintained and sustained. This will also include the cost-effective planning, development, implementation and management of services within the Surgery
Be responsible for operational and planning issues and will work closely with the Service Unit Manager/General Manager, Divisional Director, Deputy Director of Operations, Deputy Director of Nursing, Lead Clinicians and Matrons to identify and implement solutions.
You will work independently to manage their own workload in line with service requirements and local/national policies.
You will be expected to deputise for the Service Unit Manager where required and appropriate.
Main duties of the job
Provide business planning support to the team along with high quality project, service, initiative and administrative support including information and analysis.
Undertake reporting and analysis of complex information to support delivery of constitutional standards.
Manipulation of pivot tables and patient tracking lists (PTL's) to ensure oversight and escalation is maintained at the weekly performance meetings, including distribution and presentation of data to the Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Director of Operations and Divisional Director.
Responsible for maintaining key performance standards such as cancer standards and 18 week RTT.
Responsible for initiating and coordinating complaint responses
Providing support to ensure medical staffing rotas are running effectively
Accountable for financial monitoring
You will have specific responsibility for the service improvement Agenda supporting service improvement through analysis of data and undertaking capacity and demand analysis of services to support delivery of the cancer waiting times and 18 week RTT waiting time standards.
Development of Divisional teams, both clinical and non-clinical, who lead the patient journey improving processes and patient experience as required.
You will be a key member of the team whose overarching goal is to enable promote and support the effective operational management of the Service
Participate in Bed Management on site and job planning meeting with clinical colleagues.
