Job summary
You will be the first point of contact for patients in the Oncology service.
Answer important queries and providing reassurance where required.
Manage and amend appointments in clinics through clear communication and confident use of systems.
You will function as part of a central team within the department to provide a seamless service and high quality support to patients under the supervision of the Bookings Supervisor/Junior Service Manager, working within the Trust's policies, procedures, and Trust values

Main duties of the job
Ensure referral targets are met by booking future appointments promptly upon receipt of referrals.
Handle patient queries confidentially and professionally via telephone.
Accurately check and update patient demographic details using the PAS (Patient Administration System).
Utilise the EPR (Electronic Patient Record) system to verify and manage appointments.
Meet, greet, and check patients into outpatient clinics, ensuring a welcoming and efficient service.Cancel and reschedule appointments as required, clearly explaining changes to patients and working with them to find suitable alternatives.
Manage and adjust clinic and chemotherapy schedules, including template modifications, ensuring maximum utilization.
Prioritise daily tasks effectively and escalate issues promptly when necessary.
Have a good understanding of cancer pathways and the 18-week referral-to-treatment target.
Sort and distribute incoming post accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure referral letters and other relevant documents are saved and correctly recorded in the Trust's electronic systems.
Perform general administrative duties including photocopying, scanning, and emailing patient information as required.
Handle patient complaints and manage challenging conversations with professionalism and empathy.
Complete end-of-clinic processes by updating relevant systems with appointment outcomes
