Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic team player to join the Dermatology Cancer Team.
The Skin Cancer Pathway Navigator post is a pivotal role in ensuring timely patient progression through their pathway prior to diagnosis or discharge. The ideal candidate will enjoy problem solving and providing patients with excellent care by coordinating the patient journey following a cancer referral.
You will join a new Team and will need to be flexible and adaptable, a good team player with the ability to work well on their own initiative and willing to take on a variety of duties, whilst having the ability to maintain attention to detail.
Ideally you will have experience of cancer services and knowledge of cancer waiting times guidance as well a knowledge of Somerset applications, but this is not essential and full training will be given.

Main duties of the job
Facilitate the smooth running of the skin cancer patient journey by ensuring that co-ordinated administrative processes revolve around the patient and their individual needs. The success of the cancer pathway relies on close team working and input into and tracking of the patient pathway.
Supporting the Management Team, the Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) and wider Skin Cancer Team, working under the direct or indirect supervision of the Assistant Service Manager.
Liaising with the clinical and booking teams to manage the planned checkpoints throughout a patient's clinical journey and support the clinical team in ensuring the specialty is able to deliver safe and effective services.
As part of the wider, well established, Skin Cancer Team, facilitate streamlined administrative processes to ensure patients referred into the Trust on a cancer pathway are tracked, escalated and monitored in line with cancer wait time guidance.
Be adaptable and willing to work flexibly as the service progresses, contributing to service development and improvement.
Use a caring and empathetic approach and also have the ability to support the Service across various sites.
