Job summary
We have two exciting opportunities for a Macmillan cancer Information and support services deputy manager to join our team specialising in Metastatic Breast, we have one position primarily based at Basildon Hospital and the other primarily at Broomfield Hospital. There may also be the occasional need for cross site working across our Trust and its sites.Do you feel you have what it is to make a difference if so, we want to hear from you!
Provide expert personalised, holistic information and support to individuals affected by cancer and refer on to appropriate specialist support services as needed.
You will be responsible for recruiting, training, developing and supporting volunteers for the Macmillan Information and Support Service.
Act as a deputy to the Macmillan Information and Support Manager and manage the centre in their absence.
The aim of the centre is to improve information and support to users and contribute to the cancer survivorship and self-management agenda within the Trust and in the local community.
Main duties of the job
Provide expert personalised support and information to people affected by cancer, covering cancer and its treatment, supportive and palliative care, family/relationships support, stress management, lifestyle coaching, employment and benefits as well as housing and legal issues associated with accessing healthcare.
Provide expert information guidance to healthcare professionals and social care colleagues.
Supporting and running nurse led clinics in line with the Metastatic Breast speciality service needs.
In conjunction with the Macmillan Information Manager develop a highly specialised programme for emotional support and wellbeing as well as healthy lifestyle.
Recruit, train, manage and support a team of volunteers, ensure the volunteer roles complement Centre's support services.
Develop, monitor and implement quality standards and outcomes for the volunteers within the Macmillan Information Centre
Support run and maintain nurse led clinics in line with the specialty service Metastatic Breast clinics

- working towards Degree related speciality of cancer /oncology
- Post registration courses in Cancer/oncology/palliative care
Desirable
- Degree/working towards masters level 7 study
- Knowledge of volunteer recruitment, training and retention processes
Experience
Essential
- 3 years as band 6 experience
- Experience in cancer and its treatment/palliative care/leadership experience
- Evidence of Skills in interdisciplinary working, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
