Job summary
Elective admissions Lounge is a busy unit that admits patients on the day for surgery, requiring a minimum of one overnight stay. The role of ward clerk is to work as a part of a team , have a flexible and professional attitude to work and provide cross cover during periods of absence.
Main duties of the job
To provide flexible , and reliable reception and administratrion service to the department .
Use of Careflow computer system for various processes, including the updating of patient demographics, to check patient information and hospital activity.
Answer and respond to enquiries from patients , relatives, and visitors in the department efficiently and politely.
Request and electronically track patient records in and out of the department when required.
Prepare and check patient case notes ready for surgical procedures.
Be versatile and adaptable to the demands of the team, and willing to learn new skills.
Carry out general office duties incliuding filing, photocoying, use of emails.
Promote clear and effective communication between members of the multidisciplinary team.
